Cardiff Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is the largest facility of its type in Wales, taking waste from local authority and local business contracts. The facility handles 350,000 tonnes of residual (non-recyclable) waste, per year and diverts at least 95% of South Wales’ residual waste away from landfill. The plant, which has been operational since 2014, generates 30MW of electricity – enough to power around 50,000 households.
SDL’s work at the Cardiff facility has to date included fitting out offices, and installing the required level of fire protection to key elements of the building fabric, as required.
